SANRAL Bursary Opportunities for University and TVET Students
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) invites eligible South African students to apply for its national bursary scheme. Designed to build technical capacity and develop skilled professionals within the infrastructure and transport sectors, the program offers funding for students at both Public Universities and TVET Colleges across South Africa.
Whether you are pursuing a university degree in engineering, transport economics, or computer science, or studying towards a National Diploma or NATED qualification at a TVET institution, SANRAL provides structured financial, academic, and practical career support to help you complete your qualification.
Fields of Study Supported
SANRAL offers funding tailored to both university degrees (BSc, BEng, BTech, BCom) and TVET College programs (National N-Diploma / N4–N6):
University Degree Streams
- Civil Engineering: Structural, transportation, geotechnical, and highway engineering.
- Electronic & Computer Engineering: Intelligent transport systems, tolling systems, and hardware design.
- Town & Regional Planning / Urban Design: Spatial infrastructure and transport network integration.
- Quantity Surveying & Construction Management: Project costing, procurement, and contract management.
- Transport Economics & Logistics: Freight dynamics, road network economics, and supply chain logistics.
- Environmental Science & Human Resources: Environmental impact assessment, sustainability, and organizational management.
TVET College Vocational & Technical Streams
- Civil Engineering & Building Construction: N4–N6 diplomas and practical trade disciplines.

Required Supporting Documents
Applicants must attach clean, certified copies (not older than 3 months) of the following documents to their application:
- Certified copy of South African ID or Smart ID card.
- Grade 11 final report and Grade 12 mid-year / preliminary results (for Matriculants).
- National Senior Certificate (NSC) or TVET N3 certificate (for post-Matric applicants).
- Full official tertiary academic transcripts and latest mid-year results (for current students).
- Proof of registration or letter of acceptance from a public University or TVET College.
- Certified ID copies of parents or legal guardians.
- Proof of household income (latest payslips, 3-month bank statements, or sworn affidavit).
